I’m going to keep this post a bit short and sweet today!  Just like this awesome breakfast smoothie recipe I am going to share with you all.

After a morning workout, I like to make sure I am giving my muscles plenty of protein, carbs, vitamins, and minerals.  I am by no means an expert on nutrition.  I will pretty much never turn down French fries or cheesecake (intuitive eating and moderation are fabulous things!!), but I like to try to fuel my body with wholesome food packed with nutrients at the start of my day.

This smoothie clocks in with roughly 26g of protein (depending on the protein powder you use), and about 7g of fiber (depending on fruit used and ingredients).  Right now I am using Vega protein and greens powder and LIVfit Superfood Protein Blend for an added nutritional boost.  (Costco had a great deal on these two items).  The LIVfit superfood blend is very optional.  I like it because it contains b vitamins.  It’s also a good feeling knowing I am giving my body plenty of nutrients and antioxidants from fruit and veggies to start the day! You can also sub in some chia seeds or ground flax seed to get more omega-3 fatty acids.

This smoothie is vegan and dairy free if you use the exact same ingredients I am using, but use what you love and enjoy!  Get creative with your smoothie.  This nutrition packed drink is also incredibly quick and easy to make in the morning.  I literally throw everything in my blender, and it is ready in a minute.  It’s the best when you have time saving meals during the day.

Power Protein Breakfast Smoothie

Time: 5 min. tops

Servings: 1 Smoothie

Ingredients:

½ C Almond Milk

½ C Orange Juice (or juice of choice)

1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder

2 Scoops LIVfit Blend or 2 tsp. chia seeds or ground flax seed (optional)

½ C Frozen Blueberries

½ Banana Frozen

Preparation:

  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Drink with a pretty straw and fuel your body for the day!

That’s literally it!  You don’t have to use almond milk.  You can use all juice or all milk if you so desire.  And, you can use different fruit.  I like to use frozen fruit because it makes the smoothie thicker, but you do you.
